Opal F1 chinese kale


Description of the variety

Opal F1 is a hybrid Chinese kale bred for more leaves. The plant style is semi-open. The leaf is near round, thick and slightly wrinkled. The plant height is about 28 - 32 cm tall. The node distance is relatively short. It is suitable for winter and spring cultivation with some tolerance to heat and bolting.

Planting Guidelines

Choose a location with full sun to partial shade.

Prepare well-drained, fertile soil with compost or organic matter.

Prepare seedlings and transplant into the field.

Space seeds 22 cm apart in rows 25 cm apart.

The seedling period is about 25 days. The harvest starts about 50 days from transplanting.

Additional Remarks

Medium maturity Chinese Kale has high uniformity thus suitable for concentrated harvest in the commercial production.
